Strongly Sustainable Business Model Group (SSBMG) The Strongly Sustainable Business Model Group (SSBMG)

How can organizations become sustainable in economic, social and environmental dimensions, and contribute to a new sustainable economy? This question in one form or another is on the mind of many people today. Sustainability can be approached in many ways and from numerous perspectives. At Strategic Innovation Lab (sLab), one group has chosen to explore sustainability from the perspective of business models. Earlier this year the multi-disciplinary Strongly Sustainable Business Model Group (SSBMG) was founded with the objective of providing a focal point for collaboration in applied research on this topic. The group includes industry practitioners, faculty and graduate students from OCAD University's Strategic Foresight & Innovation program, as well as from York University. More after the break.

The Unfinished Lectures The Unfinished Lectures

The Unfinished Lecture is an event series hosted by Strategic Innovation Lab at OCAD University and sponsored by Torch Innovation. Part of the Unfinished Business initiative, the lectures are intended to generate an open conversation about strategic innovation in the business and design of commercial enterprises and public organizations. One recent event posed the question: "How can activism, philanthropy and filmmaking combine to create a platform for sustainable and constructive social innovation?" It featured a screening of Abigail Disney's unforgettable film, Pray the Devil Back to Hell, the extraordinary story of a small band of Liberian women who came together in the midst of a bloody civil war, took on the violent warlords and corrupt Charles Taylor regime, and won a long-awaited peace for their shattered country in 2003. After a screening, Ms. Disney talked about the work, its challenges and the opportunities it has created.
